“I wanted to play. There was toughness, but also magic kingdom pale neon colors. It was like being an artist; it’s girly with a tough act. That’s who I am. I’m girly but not goth,” says Vera Wang. The runway was rich in mirrored-tile embellishment on stunning dresses and tops, as well as chunky beaded motorcycle belts and bib necklaces. Sheer, organza and embellishments were a delight for the eyes and looked amazing in combination with leather. The talented designer notes artist Niki de Saint Phalle as her inspiration saying, “Architectural, yet feminine, playful yet sophisticated, this collection reflects the optimism and orchestrated cacophony that defined Niki de Saint Phalle.”

Anna Sui successfully updating her collection with Mexican spicy styles and Spanish Matador jackets. The collection included full flirty skirts, rich earthy tones, embroidery, embellishment, fringing, beading, and Spanish lace and was accessorized with strapped flats, straw hats and bags and Erickson Beamon artsy jewellery. The runway was fizzling with vibrant colors and patterns, and definitely put everyone in a Mayan Riviera vacation mood!

Fashion does architecture at Calvin Klein. The Spring collection featured many beautiful angles, origami fantasies, and even silver-copper plated wire pieces. The pieces included impressive suits, knee-high dresses, and tailored tops, including a latex shirt adorned with Swarovski Crystals. The collection was absolutely stunning in its simplicity and yet impeccable creativity and sexiness. The color palette dominated by silver and white was stunning and worked wonders on the architectural chic.

A favourite of the Hollywood stars, Zac Posen presented a collection with a girly glamour 70s chic. The collection was a contrast of cocktail dresses with extreme heavy beading and embroidery with more streamlined looks like peach chiffon dresses. Aside from the glamorous boudoir chic Red Carpet dresses, there was a Victoriana-meets-prairie girl feel to the high neck blouses and linen asymmetrical skirts with handkerchief details. The models had frosted lips as their center piece make-up and oversized dangling earrings.

Narciso Rodriguez delivered his signature classical architectural construction collection full of slim, fitted silhouette dresses. The runway was dominated by the graphical white and black along with horizontal zebra stripes and palette of soft yellows, greens and red. The hair styles were of course pulled tightly back and the look remained clean with no accessories. Remember less is more.

The collection included silk and satin formed into unforgettable dress creations. Marchesa has definitely become a powerhouse in the instantly recognizable evening attractions!

The famous designer presented a colorful and flower rich collection almost reminding me of a chic garden party. The collection started with a day look and oversized glasses as accessory and progressed ending with stunning long dresses for a romantic evening adventure, like the stunning diamond-print belted dress. The color palette was mainly in bright summer tones and lots of flower print. The accessories included drop earrings, layered necklaces and brooches which sparkled on the runway. As Oscar best explains it, “It’s my job to make women comfortable, confident, feminine and to make them sparkle.” And sure he does by delivering a sparkling collection with lots of class.
