Sarah Palin’s “Real Women Hunt Moose” and Brigitte Bardot Comments

October 9, 2008 by Luba · Leave a Comment

I really do not like to discuss politics. However, when it comes to animals, my sensitive animal lover nature speaks aloud. Sarah Palin was photographed on her way to meet with John McCain yesterday in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She was wearing a tote handbag with the phrase “Real Women Hunt Moose” written above the picture of moose head. Real women? Really??? I have no words to express how disgusting this statement is, let alone how ignorant and just plain stupid.

French film legend and great beauty Brigitte Bardot, who is by far the definition of a true lady and a real woman, said that Palin was a disgrace to women. In an open letter, Bardot wrote, “By denying the responsibility of man in global warming, by advocating gun rights and making statements that are disconcertingly stupid, you are a disgrace to women and you alone represent a terrible threat, a true environmental catastrophe.” On the note that Palin supports Arctic oil exploration which could jeopardise animal habits and dismisses the protection measures for polar bears, the French icon wrote, “This shows your total lack of responsibility, your inability to protect or simply respect animal life.” And Palin, please do not compare yourself to a pitbull with lipstick. Pitbulls and any other dogs and animals are by far much sweeter (and intelligent,) so comparing yourself to any of them is very disrespectful to the animals.

Here is a photo of Brigitte Bardot in her earlier days and this is one of my favorite pictures of her! Also featured are a couple of pictures of cute baby moose.

Milan Spring 2009: Just Cavalli

Let out your inner wildness as Just Cavalli has just arrived. The king of animal print, Roberto Cavalli delivered once again at Milan Fashion Week. Cavalli’s focus was on beach getaways so the models were walking the runway made of sand in this adorable Spring collection. The leopard prints were still the it factor but this time we saw them on skinny pants and lemon yellow leopard shades. The statements necklaces were bright and large with beaded ruffs dotted with charms. The color palette was just as bright and fun with hot pinks, blues and yellows. The sexiness was still prevalent with the wild hot print and sheer black dresses.

Prada’s “Fallen Shadows” Film for Fall/Winter 2008-2009

Following the short animation film “Trembled Blossoms,” Prada produces another film to introduce its Fall/Winter 2008-2009 collection called “Fallen Shadows.” Created and directed by the visual effects master James Lima, “Fallen Shadows” follows a woman and her shadow on a journey through Italy referencing the artworks of Buñuel, Dali, Duchamp, and Escher.

“The Shadow is more alive and expressive than the woman,” says director James Lima. “She is the sub-conscience, the dream, the soul, and it is the journey of self-discovery with the sensations of the city that confronts her…and us.”

The animation features the charming and heartfelt music and lyrics by Antony and the Johnsons’ song The Great White Ocean. Both the woman and her shadow are dressed in the all-black lace Prada dress which is gorgeously stunning and perfectly suits the shadowy atmosphere of the film. Fallen Shadows is abstract, sad, inspiring, may be even confusing at times but it is absolutely beautiful.
