For its fourth annual campaign to benefit UNICEF, fashion brand Gucci launched special white versions bags of its Tattoo Heart Collection. All the bags feature the iconic Gucci heart and rose designs against the winter white beautiful color.

“I love the idea of a heart being tattooed onto the handbags,” says Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini. “It’s a permanent mark that you can wear with pride that stays with you. I think that represents very well what we are doing here. This is not a one-off program, but rather an ongoing commitment to the incredible work that UNICEF is able to achieve. It’s really our chance to give back.”

The Gucci UNICEF Tattoo Collection is available from November 19th to January 31st in Gucci stores in more than twenty countries. 25% of the sales will be donated to the charity which will assist in providing aid to orphans and children affected by HIV and AIDS in Africa.

Sarah Palin’s “Real Women Hunt Moose” and Brigitte Bardot Comments

October 9, 2008 by Luba · Leave a Comment

I really do not like to discuss politics. However, when it comes to animals, my sensitive animal lover nature speaks aloud. Sarah Palin was photographed on her way to meet with John McCain yesterday in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She was wearing a tote handbag with the phrase “Real Women Hunt Moose” written above the picture of moose head. Real women? Really??? I have no words to express how disgusting this statement is, let alone how ignorant and just plain stupid.

French film legend and great beauty Brigitte Bardot, who is by far the definition of a true lady and a real woman, said that Palin was a disgrace to women. In an open letter, Bardot wrote, “By denying the responsibility of man in global warming, by advocating gun rights and making statements that are disconcertingly stupid, you are a disgrace to women and you alone represent a terrible threat, a true environmental catastrophe.” On the note that Palin supports Arctic oil exploration which could jeopardise animal habits and dismisses the protection measures for polar bears, the French icon wrote, “This shows your total lack of responsibility, your inability to protect or simply respect animal life.” And Palin, please do not compare yourself to a pitbull with lipstick. Pitbulls and any other dogs and animals are by far much sweeter (and intelligent,) so comparing yourself to any of them is very disrespectful to the animals.

Here is a photo of Brigitte Bardot in her earlier days and this is one of my favorite pictures of her! Also featured are a couple of pictures of cute baby moose.

Marc Jacobs and Comme des Garcons founder Rei Kawakubo will be collaborating to release new design handbags for Louis Vuitton. On the latest design, marc Jacobs says, “I admire and worship her [Rei Kawakubo] and it’s the kind of thing that I think is so wonderful to do at Vuitton, where it’s such an iconic brand and that monogram and everything and, again, I’ve said all this before, but it’s so wonderful to have someone so outside of that thing take their look at it, their approach to it.” It will be interesting to see the ultimate French luxury brand Louis Vuitton under the influence of the ultimate Japanese avant-garde fashion rebel brand. Kawakubo’s six handbag designs will debut next Wednesday in Tokyo. In the photo above is a sneak preview of one of them.

Comme des Garcons will also be launching a line for H&M in November. Designer Rei Kawakubo will create a collection for women, men and children, as well as accessories and in a new twist, a unisex fragrance.

Matthew McConaughey’s Sweetheart Launches Handmade Bags

August 14, 2008 by Luba · Leave a Comment

Camila Alves, who is the girlfriend of hot Matthew McConaughey and a sexy Brazilian model, recently launched a handbag collection named Muxo. Muxo means the “Goddess of Water” in an African Legend. Each and every one of the handbags are handmade by her and her mom. Camila explains, “The quality of the leather from thickness to touch, the process of distressing and finishing the leather, every stitch sewn, every piece of iron detail, every tassle of fringe, custom made, designed, and crafted by me and my mother’s two hands. It takes us 5 to 8 hours to make each handbag. No machines, no assembly line…so every one is not only original, there’s really no two alike.” Sounds that the bags are truly special indeed. The bags are described as “elegance meets tribal exotic” and the collection features a lot of slouchy shapes, plenty of leather fringe and some oversized men’s bags. It also seems that there will be a Baby’s Collection coming soon. The bags range from $450 to $1000+. Visit Camila website at www.mymuxo.com. When talking about her collection, she sounds absolutely sweet and honest! A truly special talented lady.
