Sean Connery for the New Louis Vuitton Ad

Sir Sean Connery is featured in Louis Vuitton’s “core values” campaign underlining its travel roots. The original James Bond is photographed by Annie Leibovitz on the beach near his home in the Bahamas with the waterproof version of the Louis Vuitton’s Keepall bag. “He’s sexier than ever,” said Vuitton’s director of communications, Antoine Arnault. “We had the opportunity to work with a legend… He’s been on our list for a very long time.” The photo is really beautiful both because of the sunny, exotic beach and because of Connery’s elegance and charm. The tagline of the photo says, “There are journeys that turn into legends. Bahamas Islands. 10:07.” Zooming in closer, we can see that it is 10:07 on the actor’s watch as well.
Paris Spring 2009: John Galliano

John Galliano said that the inspirations for his Spring collection were “James Gillray and the Queen Mum.” This translated into the giant plumed military helmets, transparent dresses and the many florals. However, one does not need to understand British history in order to appreciate the beautiful collection. By far one of Galliano’s most wearable collections up to date, this was a sweet delight for the eyes. The dreamy flowing dresses made of delicate and soft materials in bright colors were as if taken out of a fairy tale. Floral prints, impressive beading details and the romantic sheer transparency made his dresses the highlight. As the models walked on the runway, one could almost feel that they would fly because of the pretty flowing dresses. In contrast, the location was on the harder side as it was in the industrial garage in the outer suburbs where the Paris metro trains are repaired. My favorite? The dresses and the soft combination of pinks, greens, orange and florals.

Prada’s “Fallen Shadows” Film for Fall/Winter 2008-2009

Following the short animation film “Trembled Blossoms,” Prada produces another film to introduce its Fall/Winter 2008-2009 collection called “Fallen Shadows.” Created and directed by the visual effects master James Lima, “Fallen Shadows” follows a woman and her shadow on a journey through Italy referencing the artworks of Buñuel, Dali, Duchamp, and Escher.
“The Shadow is more alive and expressive than the woman,” says director James Lima. “She is the sub-conscience, the dream, the soul, and it is the journey of self-discovery with the sensations of the city that confronts her…and us.”
The animation features the charming and heartfelt music and lyrics by Antony and the Johnsons’ song The Great White Ocean. Both the woman and her shadow are dressed in the all-black lace Prada dress which is gorgeously stunning and perfectly suits the shadowy atmosphere of the film. Fallen Shadows is abstract, sad, inspiring, may be even confusing at times but it is absolutely beautiful.
