Karl Lagerfeld’s Silent Film about Coco Chanel

Karl Lagerfeld opened his pre-fall Paris-Moscow Metiers D’Art Collection at the Le Ranelagh theater in Paris, with a 10 minute black and white silent film about Coco Chanel. Lagerfeld who “always loved silent movies,” directed the film himself, which starred his favorite male model Brad Kroenig and model model Edita Vilkeviciute who plays Coco from 1913. The first part of the film revolves around 1913 when Chanel first opened her shop and the second part takes place in 1923 when she was already well established. The film also featured Chanel’s Russian lover, the Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich, from whom she borrowed the pea jacket and pelisse and which tied perfectly to the new Collection which incorporated elements from imperial Russia and Russian folklore.
“It’s a funny movie, unpretentious,” says Lagerfeld. “Chanel was a charming woman, at liberty to seduce men. Everybody this year has decided to make a movie about Chanel, and you know their historical worth is not always too exact.”
The film took two days to shoot in a studio on the outskirts in Paris. Here is a small preview and the full movie is already available on Chanel’s website or from this link by clicking here.

Not so long ago, Karl Lagerfeld bought a six-bedroom landmark building on the island of Lake Champlain, Vermont. The designer is there now getting ready to shoot the new Chanel campaign at his place. He was caught by reporters on his front porch with his favorite male model, the hot Brad Kroenig, pictured below. The restaurant that was hired to cater the Chanel shoot said that, “the designer was kind and gracious.” Reportedly, the neighbors are quite excited as well in this small town with one of them, Loomis Bean saying, “We’re not duck hunting or fishing — this is exciting!” Lagerfeld was drown to the property for its trees and views and reminded him of Northern Europe, from where he is originally. Knowing his great artistic talent, we cannot wait to see the photo shoot!
Eva Herzigova and Karl Lagerfeld Pair Up for Dom Pérignon Rose Vintage 1996

Supermodel Eva Herzigova is the new face for the champagne Dom Pérignon Rose Vintage 1996 ad campaign, which is photographed by fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. The advertisement is quite long for my taste, you can watch the full video below, and it is supposedly a “love story in Paris.” Eva’s male interest in the ad is none other than Brad Kroenig, who has been a muse of Karl Lagerfeld for a long time.
According to the famous designer, “We need the right people who are 100% right for the part. And I think was my first choice to take, there was no other choice. It was Eva or nobody else.” Karl also commented on Brad, saying that he is handsome, elegant, chic and exactly right for this.
