Louboutin’s “Barbie” Pumps

Barbie’s 50th Birthday is coming up next year and for her special runway show in 2009, the infamous doll is getting to ready to wear a fabulous pair of Louboutins. Christian Louboutin is designing a pair of pumps in the legendary Barbie Pantone 219 Pink that will make their debut at the Barbie Mattel runway show during New York Fashion Week in February 2009. As of now, 50 designers, unfortunately still undisclosed, will create Barbie inspired outfits for the extravagant show and each of the models will wear the special pink Louboutins. As for Louboutin, whose pumps are by far the most wanted worldwide, he is a longtime fan of Barbie, “I guess I always had a little “girlie side” who liked Barbie. Barbie needs to wear great shoes because every girl needs to wear great shoes.”

Christian Louboutin to Design Clothes?

It is a common trend for everyone to have clothing design labels as their second, third or forth career, such as many actresses, musicians, or just famous socialites even if they do not understand anything about fashion. In my opinion, it is absolutely demeaning to the fashion industry and “what it takes to be a famous designer.” However, world’s most exquisite shoe designer, Christian Louboutin, declines design, saying, “Not interested.” In an interview with Stella Magazine he says: “I was approached to be a clothes designer [once]. I said, ‘Are you crazy, why would you even consider that?’ And they said, ‘Well, you have a name.’ There are so many good designers, so why would I put my name on clothes when I never wanted to do it?” Monsieur Louboutin will rather spend his time making the most beautiful shoes in the world and to perfect the six-inch heel. And we sure love him for that!
