The Asian Spa Awards for 2008, which are in their fourth year of celebrating and are organized by AsiaSpa magazine were held in Hong Kong in the middle of this month. Not surprisingly, Thailand took most of the awards for best spas which are judged in terms of innovation and quality by 29 independent judges. For Destination Spa of the Year, the award went to the Holistic Spa at the Kamalaya resort on the island of Koh Samui in Thailand. The resort itself is a true magical sanctuary which is centered around a monk’s cave that once served Buddhist monks as a place of meditation and spiritual retreat. Koh Samui is the third largest island in Thailand and it is known as the “island of the coconuts.”
The Holistic Spa combines authentic ancient healing traditions with contemporary therapies and offers diverse range of holistic therapies, therapeutic body treatments, restorative massages, and nurturing body treatments. Whether you chose a private setting in a room with your loved one enjoying a relaxing spa treatment followed by a private sunset dinner in this paradise or you chose one of the many ancient therapies like Reiki, Sound Healing or indulge in an exotic spa treatments like Jewel of the Orient, Herbal Steam or Lotus Realm, who will surely feel in heaven. You can learn more about the resort and the Holistic Spa at the official website http://www.kamalaya.com/.

Manolo Blahnik may be one of the most famous shoe designers, but he appears to be a desired tattoo inspiration as well. During an interview for the Bergdorf Goodman magazine, the designer explains how a “pretty Southern woman” once asked him to sign her leg and then she made it more permanent by tattooing the signature. This gives a whole new meaning to wearing your Manolo(s) all the time!
Mark Wahlberg says “Kate Moss Looked Like My Nephew”

The 1992 Calvin Klein ads featured topless supermodel Kate Moss and hot bad boy Mark Wahlberg. Although the ads were steamy close and personal, it seems that Kate and Mark might not have been so close after all. In the September issue of Interview, Moss says, “”At the time he [Mark] was such a dickhead. He wasn’t very nice.” Well, it turns out that the Oscar nominee for The Departed, didn’t like the supermodel much either; at least her figure that is. He tells Nuts magazine that, “She kind of looked like my nephew. I mean she’s beautiful — she’s a very pretty nephew — but I’m more into curvy women.”
The New Chanel Homme Collection starring Scott Schuman

Scott Schuman more commonly known as the creator of the popular fashion blog “The Sartorialist” photographed Chanel’s new Homme Collection for Fantastic Man magazine Issue #8. Schuman is known for taking beautiful “real people” photography and this absolutely reflects his outstanding style. It has got to be one of the best fashion editorials for some time now and many people are already in love with the photo shots. Probably not many know that one of the world’s most prestigious fashion house, Chanel is making menswear. It sure isn’t as popular as the womenswear and the jewellery line, but Chanel menswear is gaining speed and attention! This new collection is rich in fitted black pants tucked in suede ankle boots, dark heavy coats, fitted blazers with scarves and my favorite – the black and white tweed loosely fitted coat with the pearl necklace.

Giorgio Armani Not Ready To Retire

With Valentino retired and Yves Saint Laurent passing away, there are unfortunately only a handful of the grand designers left today. Giorgio Armani who is a favorite of mine, recently spoke to Italian magazine Il Sole 24 Ore about the idea of retirement.
“It is painful but you need to have the courage that, once it is done, not to have any claims over it,” Armani says. “In the case of reaching a certain age or the market needing a radical change in style, it is extremely difficult for someone who created a company to detach themselves from it.”
Giorgio adds, “The founder is linked to the brand and represents its style. When it comes to replacing the founder there is always a doubt as to whether to change the style. The young designers have all the talent that is needed but in a system made up of only ‘untouchable icons’ that cut off all oxygen, you can also die.”
But don’t worry! The talented designer is not on his way to retirement! “I have never posed myself the problem, looking at the pros and cons… I have not picked my ‘heir’. Touch wood, we’re not talking about it but an organisation that is so precise could easily survive me. I can easily manage this as I have always firmly kept the style, management and ownership in my hands.”
Armani’s Spring/Summer 2009 collections were spectacular and we sure hope that our favorite designer will continue to beautify the fashion runways and inspire our lives with his delicate pieces.
