Designer Jussara Lee thinks “Sex and the City” Fashion is “Too Done Up”

November 11, 2008 by Luba · Leave a Comment

Sex and the City may be a huge fashion hit for the public, but it is now a common thing for designers to bash its fashion sense. While many people watch the infamous series religiously for its latest moda and what’s the next best thing to wear, designers do not seem to agree that it is very fashionable. Not so long ago, well known designer Madam Vivienne Westwood said that the movie wasn’t fashionable and even walked out of its premier. Now Brazilian-born designer Jussara Lee who has been in the fashion industry for ten years, a true fashion veteran, is sharing Westwood’s opinion.

“The whole Sex and the City thing was a huge influence on ordinary people. It looks too done up to me. It’s too much hair. Everyone looks like they’ve spent too much time, too much money, and then in the end everyone looks the same. It’s curious that people would go the whole extent to look so the same,” says Jussara.

Sex and The City Movie Sequel?

November 9, 2008 by Luba · Leave a Comment

A couple of days ago Kim Cattrall, aka Samantha Jones, confirmed that there will be a much-wanted sequel to the Sex and The City: The Movie. “Yes, there will be a sequel. We will do the sequel next summer,” Cattrall says. “We wanted to the first time, and now we’re hopefully doing it again for the second time.” The movie took many years to film as as there were many rumoured infighting between the four ladies, Kim Cattrall, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon. It seems that these quarrels are not over yet, as just one day later, Sarah Jessica Parker denied the confirmed sequel plans. “I’m thrilled to know Kim is excited but all the deals are not yet done,” says the star that plays Carrie Bradshaw. In September, both Parker and director/writer Michael Patrick King talked about the possible sequel saying even that it is on its way to be written. So, will there be a sequel after all? We hope that soon the diva cast will finally make up their minds.

Trend Spring 2009: Huge Earrings!

October 9, 2008 by Luba · Leave a Comment

It is no secret that I love huge jewellery, anything from enormous necklaces, rings, bracelets and of course earrings! So, you can imagine how excited I was that huge earrings are the next major trend for Spring/Summer 2009. Also featured on the British Vogue Loves, these Zac Posen Spring 2009 earrings are a grand highlight! The chandelier style beauties are danggling, huge and a definite show stopper. Whether you chose silver styles, Swarovski sparling crystals or tribal colored stones, do not be afraid to experiment and let your imagination fly just as long as they are large. In fact, the larger, the better! Just remember to pull your hair back either in a French chic ponytail or styled into a quiff like in the Zac Posen fashion show. And of course, do not over-accessorize when you wear these beauties: chose simpler clothes and only one more accessory so that their magic appeal takes center stage.

Karl Lagerfeld Film? “I Think It’s Ridiculous,” he says.

October 7, 2008 by Luba · Leave a Comment

With many biopic films coming out about our favorite fashion designers, like Coco Chanel, Vivienne Westwood and the documentary about Valentino, one might wonder if a Lagerfeld film is next. The designer confides that, “Some directors, whose names I will not mention, have even been approached about making a movie about my life. I think it’s ridiculous. Who would be able to play me, both young and the way I am today?” For the time being, Karl is not considering making a movie about himself. In fact he thinks that he is getting sick of himself because of overexposure. “I’m suffering from an overdose of myself,” says the designer. “At a certain point, you ask yourself, am I a puppet or not?”

Confirmed: Kate Winslet to Play Vivienne Westwood

October 6, 2008 by Luba · Leave a Comment

It has been finally confirmed that Kate Winslet will play the role of Vivienne Westwood in the upcoming biopic of the famous designer. “The script is going well and Kate will play Vivienne,” the Westwood representative said. “It has been a long time in the planning but we’re very excited that it’s happening.” Reportedly, Kate has been spending time with the eccentric designer to refine her portrayal for the film role. The biopic will follow Westwood’s life from her punk roots to her rise to international fame as one of fashion’s best. The film has not yet been named by Universal. Note that Universal will release the much anticipated biopic of Mademoiselle Chanel, Coco Avant Chanel, next year with Audrey Tatou to play the fashion icon. I cannot wait for that one!

Anti-Aging Perfume: Neuropeptide Synergy Anti-Aging Aromatic

October 2, 2008 by Luba · Leave a Comment

This is one truly special elexir. But do not mistake it for the type of perfume you spray on your neck and wrists. This is much more than that, as it is an anti-aging perfume. What you have to do is apply a few drops under your nose. The aromatic will calm and relax you and it will improve your self-esteem. Introduced by Dr Nicholas Periccone, the Neuropeptide Synergy Anti-Aging Aromatic “will take away stress and unrest, and improve immunity system of the organism that decreases with each neurosis and unpleasant feelings oppressing us.” This stress-relieving formula is the secret to anti-aging, as we all know that stress weakens the immune system making us age faster. Therefore, by delivering pheromones to the brain we can reduce aging effects as the pheromones will “activate positive changes in the areas related to emotional well being, and give a sense of calmness and clarity, decreasing stress and enhancing sexual attraction.” The magical elexir comes in a 25 ml bottle and its price is around $250.

Victoria Beckham Shocks NY with Heel-Less Boots!

September 29, 2008 by Luba · Leave a Comment

At the Beckhams’ perfume launch this weekend in New York, Victoria shocked all by wearing these PVC thigh-high heel-less boots by Antonio Berardi. A pair of these runs at about $5,600 and are made to order. The English-Italian designer started the heel-less shoe trend in the summer with the heel-less sandals which were actually bought by Uma Thurman, Gwyneth Paltrow and of course Posh Spice. These new made to order boots have already sold around 60 pairs worldwide.

Is this design impossible to wear? After all, heels alone make you feel enormous pain after long hours, then what will no heels do for your high-”heeled” shoes? Well, according to Berardi these shoes do not cause any pain.

“They are perfectly balanced. When the girls come for fittings, they look a bit daunted, but by the end they say it’s just like wearing a regular shoe. They are graceful and there is a ballerina nature about them. Having a heel is really just psychological.” The trick to the heel-less shoes is that they have a bigger platform sole which stretched back further than the ordinary heel shoes and this is what gives the needed support not to fall. However, when you walk you would need to step on your toes first. Medical experts of course disagree warning that if regularly worn, the shoes could cause permanent physical damage. I can see their appeal as they remind of the pointe ballerina shoes. But any ballerina would tell you that she would never wear her shoes unless she had to, no matter how appealing they are.

Would you wear the heel-less shoes? Is this the next dangerous footwear trend that everyone will start obssesing about?
