Designer Jussara Lee thinks “Sex and the City” Fashion is “Too Done Up”

Sex and the City may be a huge fashion hit for the public, but it is now a common thing for designers to bash its fashion sense. While many people watch the infamous series religiously for its latest moda and what’s the next best thing to wear, designers do not seem to agree that it is very fashionable. Not so long ago, well known designer Madam Vivienne Westwood said that the movie wasn’t fashionable and even walked out of its premier. Now Brazilian-born designer Jussara Lee who has been in the fashion industry for ten years, a true fashion veteran, is sharing Westwood’s opinion.

“The whole Sex and the City thing was a huge influence on ordinary people. It looks too done up to me. It’s too much hair. Everyone looks like they’ve spent too much time, too much money, and then in the end everyone looks the same. It’s curious that people would go the whole extent to look so the same,” says Jussara.

“Valentino: The Last Emperor” Movie Clips

I cannot wait to see this film. Here are two clips from the movie taken from youtube.com. In the first clip, we can see Valentino’s cute dogs. It seems that the film will be with a great sense of humor too! And the second clip shows us a glimpse of the relationship between Valentino and Giancarlo.

Valentino: The Last Emperor is a documentary about the life, career and dramatic closing of last fashion show of one of Italy’s greatest designers, Valentino Garavani. The film is produced and directed by Matt Tyrnauer who is a New York writer and filmmaker. The documentary is both intimate and engaging and has received great reviews from its premiers. At the heart of the film is a touching life long love story between Valentino and his partner in both business and life of 50 years, Giancarlo Giammetti. Although, it was not Tyrnauer’s intention to center the documentary around their relationship, things just happened that way. ” [Valentino] is a born dreamer and the last true couturier, who let us in on his creative process and also let us in on the life he built around him to sustain this process,” says Tyrnauer. Truly, Valentino’s designs are not just known for their glamour and elegance but for their attention to detail and delicacy; qualities that only a great designer with devoted love towards his work could possess.

“Paris, Not France”: The Paris Hilton Documentary

Paris Hilton and boyfriend Benji Madden from the band Good Charlotte showed up at the Toronto International Film Festival for the premier of “Paris, Not France,” a documentary film about the life of the famous Hilton heiress. The film is the first feature effort of film director Adria Petty, the daughter of rocker Tom Petty. Adria spent a year documenting Paris’ life, following her to many events and interviewing Hilton’s parents, Kathy and Rick, sister Nicky and personalities such as Donald Trump. Besides the featured insider interviews, the film shows a scene where a make-up artist prepares Paris for a public appearance while she is asleep. Feel sorry for her yet? Paris also openly and apparently repeatedly talks about her infamous sex tape and portrays herself as the victim. “I’m basically being judged, and they’re creating this false person, and I can’t do anything about it,” Hilton says in the film. She also compares herself favorably to Marilyn Monroe and Princess Diana, although she does not mention their tragic ends … Director Adria publicly thanked Paris for her “humor, wit, trust and taking me on the most incredible journey of my life.”

Sex and The City Premieres in Tokyo

August 23, 2008 by Luba · Leave a Comment

Four months after the New York debut “Sex and The City” movie has finally arrived in Tokyo, Japan. The attendees sure seemed absolutely ecstatic and their mood was in no way affected by the four month delay in its premiere. It was all about the glamor and couture on the pink carpet at Roppongi Hills! The attendees included the movie’s stylist Patricia Field, the movie’s director Michael Patrick King, and Japanese actresses Misaki Ito and Norika Fujiwara. The highlight of the premiere was with no doubt Misaki Ito’s choice of dress; she wore the Vivienne Westwood wedding dress of Carrie from the movie! Oh yeah, THAT dress! What a treat for the thousands of fans that was!

It is interesting, however, that although the dress was so popular and memorable for “Sex and The City,” its designer, Vivienne Westwood is not a fan of the movie at all! In fact, she walked out of the premiere ten minutes after it started, saying that the movie was “boooring” and “not very fashionable.” Ouch!

“Sex and The City” premiered on August 20th in Tokyo and will open in theaters on the 23th of August.
